EEM0801 Linear Motor
System Description
In principle, a differentation is also made here, between DC, synchronous and
asynchronous linear motors, whereby the latter due to its more straightforward
construction, is the most widely used type. The LN training system is based on this type
of motor. It consists of an asynchronous motor with linear windings, a table-top frame and
guide rails with end-switches.
The linear motor is controlled from a separate control unit which also incorporates
inputs for connecting the end-switches for direction reversal/mains supply switch-over.
The voltage supply is via an isolating transformer with three-phase voltage outputs (3 x
150/175/200/225/250/275V) which incorporate a motor protection switch. The air-gap between
motor and guide rails, is adjustec by means of distance gauges.
Topics
EEM0801 Study of an Asynchronous Linear Motor at Standstill and Running
 | Construction, function and operating. |
 | Commen features and differences to a rotating three-phase asynchronous motor. |
 | Speed regulation and braking. |
 | Recording current and active power during acceleration. |
 | Measuring the tractile force as well as current and active power, in relation to the
supply voltage with the air-gap as a parameter, with the primary coils connected in a
simple start circuit. |
 | Measurements as above, with the connections to the centre coil reverse. |
